As some tv show informed Bryce, NYC is the center of the universe. This means any band worth its salt comes through here, and I can actually go see them thanks to the wonders of public transportation. Music has pretty much consumed me, and I spend most of my computer time checking venue calendars and bands' MySpace pages, lest I miss out on seeing one of the 35 bands/artists I currently have bookmarked. I am bummed that I happen to be far away from Austin and SXSW this year, but most of those folks will be here in NY at one point or another.
My concert schedule so far:
2/14 Ben Taylor and David Saw -- The Cutting Room, Manhattan
2/16 Eli "Paperboy" Reed & The True Loves/The Sweet Divines -- Union Hall, Brooklyn
2/29 Josh Kelley/The Daylights/One Republic -- Roseland Ballroom, Manhattan
3/19 The Ting Tings/The Brunettes/KaiserCartel -- Union Hall, Brooklyn
4/18 The Sweet Divines/The Dirty Bugaloo/DJ Chairman Mao -- Union Hall, Brooklyn
4/19 Tapes 'n Tapes/White Denim -- Music Hall of Williamsburg, Brooklyn
4/28 CALVIN HARRIS -- Bowery Ballroom, Manhattan
5/8 Eli "Paperboy" Reed & The True Loves -- Joe's Pub, Manhattan
5/12 Chester French -- The Cutting Room, Manhattan
5/16 James Murphy/MSTRKRFT/Does It Offend You, Yeah?/L.A. Riots/Grandmaster Flash/TBA -- Webster Hall, Manhattan
5/17 Hercules & Love Affair/T&T/Horse Meat Disco -- Studio B, Brooklyn
5/20 The Magic Caravan w/ Outre Island -- Kraine Theater, Manhattan
Hopefully more to come . . .
And in case you didn't notice, Eli Reed (see summer post for third show) is pretty much my new Ben Taylor, though I'll be showing Ben the love any time he comes to NY as well
